Shrimp with Garlic and Chili

4 tbsp olive oil
1/2 onion, chopped
6 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp Garam Masala
1 tbsp tomato paste
14 oz jumbo raw shrimp
4 tbsp water
1/2 tbsp chili paste
a few cilantro leaves, chopped for garnish

Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the onions and fry on medium high heat until browned. Then add the garlic, cumin, salt, turmeric, coriander, chili powder, chili paste, tomato paste, and garam masala. Continue frying for another minute. Toss the shrimp in the mixture along with 4 tbsp water. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp begin to curl. Serve hot with rice.
