Goulash

Super Delicious!

Ingredients:
1 roll phyllo pastry sheets
1 stick butter, for brushing

for the filling:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 small onion, chopped
1 small clove garlic, minced
salt, black pepper, paprika, chili powder
1 tbsp olive oil
handful of mozzarella cheese

for the egg wash:
1 egg + 1 cup milk +  a dash of black pepper whisked together

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan. Add the onion and garlic. Saute until tender. Add the ground beef and seasonings. Stir frequently until cooked. Remove from heat. Set aside to cool.

Unroll the phyllo dough and separate into 2 equal stacks. Working with the first stack, layer one phyllo sheet into a baking dish (fold the edges in to fit the pan) or a large cookie sheet, brush with melted butter, layer with another phyllo sheet, brush with butter, repeat until the first half is complete. Add all of the ground beef mixture. Sprinkle a handful of mozzarella cheese. Top with the second set of phyllo, one sheet at a time brushing with melted butter in between each sheet. Butter the top of the last sheet. Score with a knife to make square pieces.

Put in oven for 10 minutes. Take out and pour the egg/milk mixture all over each square. Return to the oven to continue cooking for another 20-25 minutes or until the top is crisp and golden.
